Working Groups

The Open Education Association’s Working Groups are time-bound, member-driven groups designed to advance key program goals and expand opportunities for members to contribute meaningfully to OEA’s work. Each group has a defined scope and deliverables, and all are welcome to follow along, join sessions, and stay connected.

How it Works

  • Attend an introductory session to learn more about the working group (or register if you can’t attend to receive notes)

  • Sign up for the working group that interests you, and meetings will begin in late February

  • Working groups operate according to the Working Group Guidelines and require around a 4-6 hour/month commitment for ~6 months

  • All are welcome to attend introductory sessions, but association membership is required to join a working group

Research Working Group

The Research Working Group will focus onguiding the association’s plans to support open education research. This includes reaching out to other organizations and networks currently working on open education research and making recommendations to the steering committee about where the association can best contribute.

Professional Development Working Group

The Professional Development Working Group will focus on how the association on how to support professional growth and recognition within the field. This includes making recommendations regarding how the association can increase recognition for outstanding work and advising on the potential design of a mentorship program.

Introductory Session: Wednesday, February 11th, 1:00 PM ET / 10:00 AM ET

Outreach Working Group

The Outreach Working Group will guide the plans for the association to conduct outreach beyond the open education community and elevate the issue with influential audiences, such as administrators, disciplinary faculty, and policymakers. Activities will include developing a list of organizations and conferences to prioritize, and advising on the design of a program to provide travel funding for members to present at relevant events.
