OpenEd26 Refund Policy

Tickets purchased for the 2026 Open Education Conference are refundable within 30 days of purchase until August 31, 2026. From September 1, 2026 on, tickets are non-refundable. All refunds will be less a non-refundable $5 USD service charge to cover processing fees. Funds are typically returned to the method of payment within 5-10 business days. Donated credit card fees are non-refundable.

Tickets may be transferred to another attendee upon request. Transfer requests may take up to 5 business days to process. Refund and ticket transfer requests may be submitted to contact@openeducationconference.org.

Terms & Conditions

The Open Education Association ("OEA") organizes events, including the Open Education Conference, each referred to in these Terms as an "Event." By registering for or participating in an Event, you (the "Attendee") agree to these Terms as well as OEA's Privacy Policy and Terms of Use, to the extent applicable. If you do not agree, do not participate. OEA may terminate your participation at any time if it determines, in its sole discretion, that you are not in compliance with these Terms.

Eligibility. Events are open to individuals who meet the registration requirements and are at least 18 years of age. Attendees under 18 must be accompanied by a legal guardian.

Payment. Full payment of the applicable registration fee is due at the time of registration. Registration fees are non-refundable except as provided in the refund policy applicable to the relevant Event.

Materials. Event materials, including presentations, handouts, and recordings, are the intellectual property of OEA, its partners, or individual speakers. Materials made available under an open license are governed by the terms of that license. All other materials may not be reproduced or distributed without prior written consent of the relevant rights holder.

Media Release. OEA staff or hired professional service providers may record the Event. By participating in an Event, Attendees consent to such recordings and grant OEA a non-exclusive, royalty-free, irrevocable, perpetual license to use photographs, videos, and recordings taken during the Event for promotional purposes. Attendees participating virtually may opt out by keeping their microphone muted and camera off in recorded sessions. Attendees participating in-person may opt out by using a visual indicator, such as a colored lanyard, which OEA will provide at the registration desk.  

Conduct. Attendees will conduct themselves professionally and respectfully toward all participants. OEA is committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment and does not tolerate discrimination, harassment, or disruptive behavior. Attendees are also subject to any code of conduct applicable to the relevant Event.

Compliance. Attendees will comply with all Event rules and applicable laws, including, for in-person Events, the rules and policies of the venue.

Virtual Events. Certain Events may be held virtually. Virtual participation in any Event may require Attendees to download and configure third-party software (such as Zoom). OEA is not responsible in any way for the procurement, maintenance, or any issues that may arise resulting from Attendees’ use of any third-party software in connection with the Event. Participation in virtual Events is subject to the terms of service of the third-party software used to host the Event.

Limitation of Liability. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OEA SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR PARTICIPATION IN OR INABILITY TO PARTICIPATE IN AN EVENT, WHETHER DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE. IF ANY PART OF THIS LIMITATION IS FOUND UNENFORCEABLE, OEA'S AGGREGATE LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO ATTEND THE EVENT. NOTHING IN THESE TERMS LIMITS OEA'S LIABILITY FOR ITS OWN GROSS NEGLIGENCE OR WILLFUL MISCONDUCT.

Indemnification. Attendee agrees to indemnify and hold harmless OEA, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, losses, or expenses arising from Attendee’s actions, omissions, or breach of these Terms.

Governing Law. These Terms are governed by the laws of the District of Columbia.

Amendments. OEA reserves the right to amend these Terms at any time. Amendments are effective upon posting to the Event website or written notification to Attendees.

Severability. If any provision of these Terms is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force.

Assignment. OEA may assign its rights and obligations under these Terms without your consent. You may not assign any rights or obligations without OEA's prior written consent.

Entire Agreement. These Terms constitute the entire agreement between OEA and you with respect to the relevant Event.
