Snapshots of open education making a difference
From Colorado: Governor Polis signed HB 26-1016 on June 1, reauthorizing the state's Open Educational Resources grant program for five more years, through 2031. Since the program launched, Colorado students have saved nearly $60 million in textbook costs, representing an 11-to-1 return on state investment, with over 176,000 students now enrolled in courses using openly licensed materials annually. From Maine: The University of New England celebrated its second annual OER Awards on May 1, recognizing faculty and staff who have helped save students over $500,000 in textbook costs since 2023. The university also partnered with 11 colleges and universities on a statewide workshop to expand open education practice across Maine. Read More >>

Report: The State Policy Guidance: A Roadmap to Strengthen Dual Enrollment Through Alignment, Affordability, and Open Educational Resources report identifies eight practical policy recommendations that states can use to strengthen dual enrollment through better alignment between K–12 and higher education, reduced instructional materials costs, and expanded use of open educational resources (OER).
Open Textbook: Be Prepared for Your Nurse Practitioner Clinical Readiness Exam. This text contains case studies and review questions for nurse practitioner students, focusing on the 3Ps of nurse practitioner education (Pharmacology, Pathophysiology, and Physical (Health) Assessment) to help NP students prepare for their clinical courses and pass their clinical readiness exam.
